        Any thermometer that reaches those extremes can be used. Fahrenheit and Celsius are the most common, although there are others. It might work in your favor to use various thermometers and translate the different scales to represent your findings.

            You are reading it too soon, that’s all. It takes a while to reach body temperature. Read the instructions, that may help.

If the thermometer is the immersed in a sample of water of mass 119 g and the combination reaches a final temperature of 41.5 degree celsius, what was the initial temperature of the water?

                  Answer by akm69
                  Let the initial temp. of water is t*C.
                  =>m(w) x s(w) x (t – 41.5) = m(th) x s(th) x (41.5 – 12)
                  =>0.119 x 4187 x (t – 41.5) = 0.031 x 620 x 29.5
                  =>(t – 41.5) = 1.14
                  =>t = 1.14 + 41.5 = 42.64*C

                    i need to know when water is at 20ºC, aprox. between 18-24ºC is okay.

                    anyway i can do it?

                    Answer by Carl
                    That is 64.4 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit. I think it is too low to be on a fever thermometer. You could look however and see if it is on the scale.

                    Just don’t get the fever thermometer to hot because it cold blow up. Cold won’t hurt it though.

                    Most people keep there house at about 70 degrees so if you leave the water out in the room it will be close to 68 in a short amount of time.
