Question by Frankie-J: Single dad needs aome advice with sick 10 month old.?
Hi,
Tonight around 9 as I was getting my 10 month old son ready for bed I noticed he felt warm. I attempted to check his Temperature with an infrared baby thermometer, But failed to get it working correctly and had to use a normal digital thermometer under his arm. The under arm Temperature was 100.7 .
I gave him the recommended dosage of ibuprofen that his doctor recommended he take for his teeth.
(It was a new bottle of infant formula ibuprofen, Bought after the recall.)
The fever seemed to go away and he seemed fine, except he had some trouble going to sleep.
About 15 mins ago at 12:15am he awoke crying, With an under arm Temperature of 101.3 . It’s too soon to give him any more ibuprofen, by almost 3 hours.
Ive got a few questions:
What can I do for him to make it better? I feel so bad for him and so helpless on what to do.
Is it possible that him cutting teeth could cause the fever? The reason I ask is because his first top tooth is about to come through the gum. You can see and feek it. When his two bottom teeth came in, It was nothing. I noticed no mood changes in him. But this will be his first upper teeth.
Also im concerned about tomorrow.
With tomarrow being sunday, the soonest I can get him to the doctor will be monday morning. Unless I take him to the E.R.
Should I take him to the ER right away, or wait to see if anything gets worse? (Higher fervor, upset stomach or anything other then the slight fever he has)
Thanks for your time
Thanks lady’s. Your a huge help. Not only to get him better, but to get me to sleep tonight.
I finely got him (my son) back asleep. (1:30am)
This is the 1st time he has ever had a fevor, so it was a bit of a panic for me. Im a guy’s-guy (i paint cars for a living) so I amit im way over my head here.
But im learning, reading and asking everyday until… well I guess forever.

It’s normal for babies to get fevers, upset stomachs, etc while cutting teeth. Even in the same baby, different teeth can have a different affect on him. He can take both infant Tylenol and Motrin together. It’s a double whammy on that fever and helps drastically. Fever can fluctuate 1 degree +/- the first couple days. If it gets too high (102) and won’t come down after double med dosage, take him to the dr, but be sure to tell them exactly what he took and when to avoid overdosage. They only teethe for a short time, so before long his teething days will be over! Gl with your little one.
