Best answer:
Answer by jilldaniel_wv
Get a digital one that is specifically for Basal Body Temping. Also, make sure it has a recall feature. If you accidentally fall back to sleep and forget to write it down the recall is a real life-saver!

I don’t know but if it is for fertility issues you should look up Babycomp and/or LadyComp… both expensive, but work great. They are basal thermometers with computers in them that predict your fertile times with amazing accuracy…

Yes you can. There are other, more accurate thermometers, but your current one should work for you. Taking Control Of Your Fertility is a great resource for trying to conceive (or not when you don’t want to conceive).

Best answer:

you can use a digital but it should say some where it takes basal temps. That 4/10 degrees is really important to determine ovulation and you need a digital that takes basal. You can get them at Walmart.

Question by ignernt: This question is about a thermometer. The kind you check your body temp with?
The wife and I had a disagreement about whether or not one of those mouth thermometers would tell you the temperature of the air in the room if you just left it laying out. She says it wouldn’t because it “doesn’t do anything until you put it in your mouth”. What do you think?
Best answer:
Answer by vlee1225
The thermometer tells the temperature of the surface it is in contact with. If you think the room temperature is the same as that on the table and a book, put it on the surface of the table and cover it with a book.

Question by katie_and_jeremy: What is the difference between a basal body thermometer and a regular thermometer?
Best answer:
Answer by Vicky
The BBT thermometer will give your temperature to 100th of a degree. A normal digital one will give you to a tenth of a degree; so less detailed but just as accurate. Ironically, the best used charting website, fertilityfriend.com, doesn’t require BBT thermometer data; in fact it can’t even use it. I’ve been using a normal thermometer for 16 cycles and my data (corroborated by cervical mucus and fertility monitor) has been perfect every month. So you can use a normal thermometer, no problem.
