I’m having a hard time deciding on a thermometer. I hear the ones that take the temperature by ear are not reliable. What is the best type to get that will be very reliable? Thanks!

a digital anal thermometer. Works well and is very accurate.

I don’t care about price. My 13 month old will scream until he throws up when I try to take his temperature. I need a reliable baby thermometer. We have one that is a binky and it doesn’t work. We have one that goes in the ear, it doesn’t work. We have one the hospital gave us, and it works but it takes forever. I would prefer not to use a rectal thermometer.
I have heard that the ear thermometers were only for older children and adults. I know from experience that they don’t work on babies. They used to say that my kids’ temps were 96 degrees sometimes.

Get one that can be used under his arm. Hold him in a hug (holding his arm down) while the thermometer is working. Most take about a minute to work.
