Question by Desiree: Has anyone used the basal thermometer as a means of tracking ovulation?
I purchased a digital basal thermometer for the purpose of tracking my ovulation date. When do I begin using the thermometer if my period began on 1/18? Thanks.
Should I start when I wake up tomorrow morning? The instructions said it’s best to chart before getting out of bed.

Question by John D.: Does anyone know where I could locate a vintage (or replica) thermometer that went on a vintage wall clock?
I have an 1880s walnut Seth Thomas wall clock that had a thermometer as part of the crown decoration. The old bubble leveler is still on the clock, but the thermometer is long gone. The plalcement of the thermometer would be part of the complete restoration of the old clock.

Ebay has all things. If you can’t find it right off then keep trying. Right now there are 503 items under Seth thomas clocks. I didn’t even go into thermometers. good luck

Question by Angel Eyes: Does anyone know how to calibrate a cooking thermometer?
I don’t knopw why, but my meat thermometer still reads about 60 degrees, can someone tell me how to get it to read zero again?
Best answer:
Answer by Boo Boo
take a glass of ice water and place the thermometer in the water if it doesnt read 32* F then there should be a small nut where the base of the thermometer meets the gauge, turn that until it reads 32*F and that should fix your problem. hope this helps!

Question by mommy to #1 TTC #2: Has anyone ever used a infrared thermometer?
I tried taking my daughter’s temp. on her forehead and it was 100.3 but when i checked under her arm it was 103.4. I can’t figure out which is more accurate.
My daughter s 29 months. The only other symptoms she has is a cough and runny nose.
Best answer:
Answer by cerinp
Under the arm is more accurate and you should add one degree to it to get an accurate number, or tell your doc that you took it under her arm and he will add a degree himself. In that case your child would be 104.4. I don’t know how old they are, but thats a little high. If there are no other “dangerous” symptoms s/he will be fine and use the fever to fight off an illness. But I would call your doctor and make sure.
I also use the infared one. The reason I believe the underarm is more accurate for at home use is that there is less chance of user error.
