I doubt it. While it’s best to break it down and recycle it regardless, most places say they are safe to drop in the trash.

Question by Lynae: I don’t have a thermometer to check temperature or vegetables to cook on, How do I cook a turkey in the oven?
All I have is a aluminum pan, butter, and an oven bag. The turkey weighs 13.50 lbs.

Answer by Katie
Ok – if you are doing a stuffed turkey (I prefer not to use the bags) you should cook it at 325 degrees for the weight that you have – for 3 1/2 to 4 hours.
If it is not stuffed, then you should cook it at 325 degrees for 3 to 3 hours and 45 minutes.
If you do not use the bag, baste often (I start out with about 1/4 inch of chicken broth in the bottom of the pan to start basting with) – cover top with foil, remove the foil about 30 minutes prior to the end of cooking time to allow to brown the top to a golden brown!!! Hope this helps!

Question by Winter_Angel98: Whats the difference between a regular thermometer to a basel one?
I was taking my tempature this week and writing it down to help track ovultion, but I just read that I needed a basel theromometer. What is the difference beween these? thanks
Best answer:
Answer by Kay
a basal thermometer is an ultra sensitive thermometer that tracks your body’s minutest temperature shift or basal temperature. basal temperature is the normal body temperature of a healthy person immediately upon awakening in the morning. this temperature normally rises after ovulation due to hormonal changes. thus, a temperature increase near the middle of your menstrual cycle can indicate ovulation has occurred.
digital basal thermometers are best.
basal thermometers measure in smaller increments than a regular thermometer, which gives you a more precise reading. the basal thermometer also gets a faster reading, which also makes it more accurate.

Walmart, and it reads the humidity too!
EDIT: DUH! You said CHICK.. not for hatching eggs. Sorry! haha.. I’m an idiot. I’ve got incubator on the brain.
They probably have cheaper ones in the same section.. because you don’t have to be as accurate with a fuzzy chick. My first batch of the season is about 1-3 days old.. depending on who got out first… and they are enjoying being able to get as warm as 90f and the cool side of the box it about 80f. The older they get the less heat they need, and like. I’m using a 40 watt lightbulb with a reflector hood. All the heat they need.
===============================
Go to where they sell thermometers for inside the house or out on the porch.. like over by floor fans and stuff.
The one I got is Springfield Thermometer and Humidity Gauge. It’s digital and saves the Minimum and Maximum temp until you reset it again. It takes AAA batteries (that last FOREVER.. they don’t burn through batteries). It measure relative humidity. You want about 44% humidity for setting and 54-56% for hatching. I’ve got two in each of my cabinet incubators.. one in the upper rack, one in the lowest rack. They don’t change temp really fast.. so you can pull the tray out, look at the temp and it won’t have changed but a 10th degree… so you can see what they’re doing.
They’ve proven to be accurate for me.
===============
Humidity is JUST as important as temperature! If your temp stayed good throughout the whole incubation, but your humidity is too high your chick will either die because there isn’t enough room for it to even pip, or if it does pip fluid will seep in and drown it.. or MOST common that you see is that the few chicks that survive and hatch, their yolk sac won’t be able to absorb fully because the yolk sac is too large to pull in… the yolk sac ruptures and they die within 4 days of abdominal infection. Best case is that they just have rough navals… but they can get infection in those too. The yolk sac to a chick is like a placenta to a mammal… but they end up keeping theirs.. it’s part of their insides. Where the yolk sac draws in is the chicks ‘bellybutton’.
