Question by crimson: Where is the outdoor thermometer located on my car?
I have a 2003 Buick LeSabre Limited. One feature includes a temperature sensor to give you the current outdoor temperature. It is more accurate than these time/temperature marquis you see around town. I am wondering where this sensor is placed on a car, because obviously it would get dirty and plugged up on the chassis, and would give an inaccurate reading if placed under the hood.
I LOVE this feature. when it is raining and the temperature says 33 or 34, you know it is relatively safe to drive on the roads without hitting ice.

How does a Galileo thermometer work?

Question by antiekmama: How does a Galileo thermometer work?
You have seen them in magazines , it is a glass tube and small bubble like glass containers inside have different colors and a tag with a temperature number. The balls go up and down depending on the temp. What makes it work that way? I’ m no longer a blonde but pretty dumb when it comes to science.

        Best answer:

        Answer by J.D.
The balls have different chemicals in them.
They react at different known temperatures.
Those temperatures are attached to each ball as a tag for easy reading. Lowest “floating” ball is the correct temp.

Question by Angelina: Why not use a thermometer instead of a stirring rod to stir an ice-water mixture?
Doesn’t it make it inaccurate, or something? Please elaborate…I’m not really sure on how to approach this question. Thanks.

          Best answer:

          Answer by Dennis W
Because the thermometer could break, releasing contaminants into the mixture. Stirring rods are far more rigid.

Question by PM: How do I insert the batteries in the Mainstay Digital Thermometer?
I just got it new and I can’t figure out how to open it up for putting in batteries. There’s no direction on this at all.

Look at the side of the thermometer. In the center of the slot between front and back, you will see a tab. Use a very small flat head screwdriver and gently pry the tab outward, toward yourself. Once you have one side loose, gently wiggle to disengage the other tab and pull the back off.
