Question by Shawnna: Why does the thermometer in my car start at -38 and take several minutes to raise to correct outside temp?
I am unable to use my AC until the temp get’s above 50 degrees.
Best answer:
Answer by Bill M You’re in Antarctica or the sensor is bad. If you were in Antarctica you wouldn’t need the AC. You’ll probably have to go to a dealer to get it fixed.

Question by iluvwatermelon: Can mercury from a thermometer kill you?
Hey I was wondering if mercury from a thermometer can kill you if it enters the body from the mouth?
Best answer:
Answer by Patty Nope. The mercury would just go out the other end. I heard this question addressed on either the radio or television and the Doctor said it would just go out with the poo.

Question by 1st_time_momma: How accurate is a pacifier thermometer?
Hi all. I have a 3 month old who’s been vomiting up about half of his last 2 bottles and has had diaherria for a few days. I used a pacifier thermometer to take his temp and its 99.4 on it. I’m just curious as to how accurate this reading is.
Also, I know a rectal thermometer is the most accurate but I don’t have one. Just this one and a digital one.
Best answer:
Answer by Brittany My doctor say pacifier thermometers are garbage. You have to test in their rectum or under their arm! If his temp is 100.4 then he is sick.,
Question by mayoandketchup: How to make a thermometer (that works)?
Yes, I know that there are questions like this, but I checked all the other questions that were asked but I couldn’t find my answer.
I know how to create a thermometer that shows how a real thermometer works. But I need to create one that can also measure the temperature. Does anyone have any ideas on how to create a thermometer that can actually measure the temperature. Or at least any ideas on how I can modify my inaccurate thermometer so that it can actually measure the temperature.

Question by me: How does a minimum thermometer and a maximum thermometer work?
The picture of the thermometers in my book dont have a U shape…?
Best answer:
Answer by jeremykong2 The U shape thing, if I am not mistaken, refers to the Six’s thermometer, a thermometer which basically combines the functionality of the maximum and minimum thermometers.
Individually, a maximum thermometer is a liquid-in-glass thermometer that contains a metal index. As the liquid inside the thermometer expands, it pushes the index in some direction, say, to the right. When temperature drops, the liquid contracts (to the left), but the index remains in place. The minimum thermometer works in a similar way; there is some index that travels in one direction when cooled; but when the temperature rises again, the liquid expands but the index remains stationary.
