cooking a ham for thanksgiving?

Question by Gears: cooking a ham for thanksgiving?
I have some question on how to cook a ham.
Last year I cook a ham but it was to dry.

This time am going to put pineapple and clover and cherry’s. Can i put Brown sugar and some type of glaze too.

When and how do I put they Brown sugar and glaze if I put the ham in a bag?

Can I put the ham in a oven bag?

I got a meat thermometer too, how do i use this as well ?

Thank you for all your help

no oven bag!

use dr pepper or vanilla coke, and pour 1 can in the bottom of a roasting pan. ham in it. directly in it. cook it LONG n slow. think…pulled pork or roast beef, real tender, falls apart almost. like crockpot cooking.

Question by wild child: Cook a Spiral-Sliced Glazed Ham?
I have a spiral-sliced ham that I need to cook for Christmas dinner. Everything I find says I need a meat thermometer to cook it and I don’t have one. Can anyone tell me what temp and how long to cook this ham? Also when do I put the glaze on it?

    Answer by Bro John
On the package that the ham came in will have heating instructions. Forget the thermometer, the ham is probably already cooked. It may be something like 350 degrees for 10 or 15 min. per pound.

Question by nmtgirl: What is the difference between a basal thermometer and a regular one?
My hubby and I are having trouble getting pregnant. I heard that you can detect ovulation by a temperature change using a basal thermometer. I priced them at the drugstore, and they are about three times as much as a regular thermometer. What is the difference between them? Shouldn’t they work the same?

            Best answer:

            Answer by Jill P
There is nothing special about a basal thermometer, except that you can read down to 0.1 of a degree. Any thermometer that allows you to measure in 0.1s of degrees should work for you.

try to rub red pepper there, but it will be really painful, and difficult to rub it off, after you finish measuring your fever.

On the grill – over indirect heat for about an hour or so – check it before serving. You can also put one on the rotisserie & cook it for about an hour or so as well – til the meat is just barely ( and I mean barely) a pink color.

You must get one made for an aquarium, or you’ll poison your fish. And the temp won’t be accurate, either.
