breast sid e down..450 degrees. for 10 minutes.then lower the heat to 375 until the thigh bone moves easily and the juices run clear

Here is a recent experiment I’ve done with making a cheap temperature sensor connected to my MAC. The sensor itself is quite cheap to make (the orange board), the sensor IC is about 3 dollars, and the rest are some wire jumpers, a 2k trim potentiometer and a resistor. Total cost about -10 and some free time. What you see the temperature board hooked up to is an Arduino, a cheap USB i/o controller available from Sparkfun electronics. I can control about 10 analog inputs (one is being used to monitor the voltage of the temperature sensor) and 10 or so 5V outputs that I monitor/switch from the computer. The neat thing about getting this interfaced to an i/o board is I can use the temperature data to switch devices, sound alarms, etc. What you see the temperature board hooked up to is an Arduino, a cheap USB i/o controller available from Sparkfun electronics. I can control about 10 analog inputs (one is being used to monitor the voltage of the temperature sensor) and 10 or so 5V outputs that I monitor/switch from the computer. Question by Troy D: Chicken won’t reach 160 on George Foremanl grill?
I’m cooking come boneless, skinless chicken breasts on my george foreman grill and i’ve been using a meat thermometer to check if it’s done. There isn’t any pink in the middle but when I put the thermometer in the chicken it doesn’t get past about 135. I know it should be around 160, so is it still ok to eat?????

I cook them all the time. Never checked the temp, but all the pink is gone.

put it in a glass of standing ice water until the temp. stabilizes. match it to 32 deg. F.

i got it at the grocery store , and im cooking it in a small frying pan. its not bright pink anymore but a dull brownish pink. is it safe to eat/ I dont have a meat thermometer and i have a toddler who i dont want gettin sick. thanks

Question by ourajin: how high should i set my stove-top for frying french fries?
i have a “HotPoint” range, and that’s as much detail as i can find about it. a recipe i have for homemade french fries calls for the oil to be at 320 degrees and then at 375 degrees; what heat level (low, med, low-med, etc) should i set it to? im using vegetable oil in an iron pot and i have a meat thermometer, solve my problem.

I make mine in an old pot and I set the dial about half way between high and medium. Throw one chip in to test it before you put in a whole batch.
