what kind of chemical is inside a galilean thermometer?

Question by No_longer_a_corporate_mom: what kind of chemical is inside a galilean thermometer?
I just broke my husbands galileo thermometer, and he’s not going to be happy about it. But I was wondering what kind of chemical is inside them, because it splashed all over my leg, and also went on the carpet. It smells kind of like kerosene.

Best answer:

Answer by Ames
The liquid inside the Galileo is clear and contains paraffin and petroleum distillates, which are found in many household products.

Question by MissBrittney: Graphic to track fundraising like thermometer?
Our nonprofit organization is doing a bit of fundraising for an event at the end of summer, and we need some sort of graphic like a thermometer to track our progress. We want to get people really excited about this event, and we feel that a thermometer would be kind of a buzz killer due to it’s unoriginality hehe So, if you have any ideas on a more original tracking system, we would would definitely appreciate it = )

    Thank you so much!

P.S. This is a youth program, and it would be great if the tracker could reflect that.

Use lego’s to build a church, or something like that, once our youth put their hand prints on tiles and then covered a section of the concrete wall in the youth building. Good luck and God Bless!!

Question by Amy: Anyone know how to change a Walgreens Ear thermometer reading from C to F?
I have a Walgreens Instant Ear Thermometer that reads in Celsius. I need to know how to change it to fahrenheit?Anyone?
      Thanks!
And I don’t have the manual, can’t find it online either.
I can convert C to F online, but it’s a hassle when the sick child in question is crying/screaming/barfing etc.
      :0)
To clarify: I need to know how to get the thermometer itself to display in degrees fahrenheit.

      Answer by super_deformed_girl
well.. if it is capable of reading in F as well.. then you should read the manual.

or you can just type into google
      “convert ## celsius to fahrenheit”

Where do i put the thermometer probe at from my Ball Python?

Question by Holly: Where do i put the thermometer probe at from my Ball Python?
Im not sure where i put it to read the temp for the ground.I have a heat pad and a heat lamp for him.I also have a thermometer that sticks on the wall of his tank. That reads 92 and the ground one reads 87.Im not sure if i have the probe in the right area or not.Where is the best place to put the probe thermometer at?

        Best answer:

        Answer by KimbeeJ
Put it on the floor of the tank right above the heat pad. You want this temp to be about 85F. You can also move the probe to the spot under the basking bulb. This should also read about 85F. 92 is a bit too high. You can either move the light up higher or plug it into a dimmer switch to lower the brightness/heat. The other end of the tank should be cooler. Here is a great care site:

No, it wouldnt because maybe it will get too hot and burn then it will set on fire, but thats my decision….you can do anything you want to, but i think thats might be the safest thing to do.

How do you know when the turkey’s done?

Question by You asked for it: How do you know when the turkey’s done?
if you don’t have a meat thermometer?

            Answer by amylynn0582
Usually with any poultry, when the juices run clear it is done….

But you could always buy a turkey with a little popper button thing in it and when the turkey is done, the button will pop! Easy as that.

But to be safe…..id buy a meat thermometer.

Question by arsonist18: First time baking a Turkey, any guidance and tips?
I was delegated Thanksgiving this year by my family. So I have a butterball 14.29 lb turkey thawing in the fridge. Also armed with:

                  non-stick roasting pan
                  roasting rack
baster with a detachable injector tip
                  meat thermometer
                  lifting forks
                  carving tools

So… what do I do next? Thanks in advance for any help for this newbie. :)

                  Answer by Yvonne
You should brine your turkey for maximum moistness and then keep it covered with foil while cooking to keep the juices in. Uncover for the last 1/2 hour to crispen the skin.
Good luck! You can do it! Just don’t forget to turn the oven on. That could be your worst problem.
