Question by hubbabubba: What type of thermometer to check the meat?
I’m cooking a roast and I’m not sure if it’s done yet and I don’t want to cut into it because that will mess up the presentation. I still have the old rectal one that my mom gave to me and I don’t want to have to buy another one when this one works just fine.

Answer by Coreyisdacoolest don’t use that one it only goes up to 108 degrees and it will bust and put mercury in your meat. You need to use a meat thermometer specifically. they have them at most stores. Meat med rare is 135 to 140 degrees. The human thermometer will be well above its range and pop.
