Question by : How to keep an outdoor electronic thermometer sensor dry?
My Oregon Scientific outdoor electronic thermometer sensor stops working when wet. I’ve tried to keep it dry in zip-lock bags and Tupperware, but moisture always seeps in.
Any ideas?

Question by candy: How can I know if my water is warm enough without a thermometer?
The recipe calls for 110 degrees F…I’m making pretzels by the way. But then again, without a thermometer I have no idea. Does it really matter though? Can’t I just warm up water for about 45 seconds in the microwave so that it feels warm?
Best answer:
Answer by prof610 Since the boiling point of water is 212 degrees F., my suggestion would be that you hot water from the tap is probably warm enough. Most hot water tanks are usually set between 110 to 115 degrees F.

Question by Sonrisa C: Can you use a fridge/freezer thermometer to stick in a cup of ice and measure the temperature?
I have to do a science fair project and I need a thermometer to measure the temperature of ice.
Best answer:
Answer by Vipaka It would involve some hit-or-miss calculations involving the specific heat of water…and some diligent record keeping about how fast your fridge/freezer solidifies a cup of water. Why not just go buy a thermometer from the store, they are cheap and reusable.

Question by jon.s: Are meat thermometers the same as human thermometers?
Best answer:
Answer by Betty No. A high quality digital or analog kitchen/meat thermometer is designed to be used on food, not people. The old fashioned people thermometers that are made of glass with mercury in them would be dangerous to use on meat because they would probably break.
The newer kind of people thermometers that they stick in your ear probably don’t have a high enough reading…. so they wouldn’t be very accurate.
