Question by greydoc6: Meat thermometer reading for lamb?
I’ve seen recommendations between 110 to 160 F. That’s quite a variation. Would like the lamb just on the slightly rare side of medium.
Best answer:
Answer by Mama It depends upon how you like your lamb cooked. As a general guide:
Medium-Rare 145 °F
Medium 150 °F
Well done 170 °F
You’ll need to remove when it reaches a few degrees less because it will continue to cook after you remove it from the heat.
Question by Epitome: Is there a multi-use thermometer I can buy for meats, candies, and water?
So basically could I use a meat thermometer for making candies or measuring the temperature of water for yeast? I really don’t want to buy a candy thermometer if I can’t stick it in a piece of meat.

Answer by alsballoondepot There are different thermometers for different foods. Meat thermometers are available at Walmart or a Large Grocery Store. Candy thermometers are available at Garden Ridge Pottery or possibly Walmart. You also may be able to purchase one on line through Wilton Cakes if they have a site. They also sell different cake/candy molds.

Question by ticktock: Can I cook a turkey without having a food thermometer?
I plan on just going by the directions on the turkey package. 15-20 minutes per pound. I hope the darn thing cooks. Has anyone ever cooked one without a thermometer? How did it turn out?
I won’t be stuffing it. I will make the stuffing on the side.

Answer by Amy Estelle I would cook it just a little bit extra just to make sure!
Question by Annie: How do you make a Celsius thermometer?
I got a chemistry homework assignment to write a three page essay on how to make a Celsius thermometer. I tried to research the subject and the best I could find was how to make a thermometer, but the thermometer made would not be accurate. It only showed students how a thermometer works. So does anyone have any idea or information on how to make a accurate CELSIUS thermometer? Thanks in advance.
Best answer:
Answer by KennyB Follow the instructions for a thermometer, as above.
Then place it in an ice-water mixture and mark the lowest point that it records. This will be zero degrees.
Then place it in boiling water and record the highest point that it records. This is 100.
Divide it into 100 equal segments and you now have a Celsius thermometer.
