Question by Manuel P: Will RF (Radio Frequency) in the HF Band interfere with the accuracy of a reading from a temperature gun?
A reading was taken with the temperature on an antenna I was testing, the temperature gun uses an InfraRed thermometer. I would get temperatures in upwards of 280 degrees farenheight while transmiting, and temperatures of around 110 degrees farenheight while not transmitting (wich was normal). Does anyone have a theory for why this would happen?

if the infrared detector is an LED type device, it is a diode and will rectify RF energy picked up by the units wiring and generate a spurious DC current.

Question by Dionne: I put my meat thermometer in the dishwasher and now there’s condensation inside the glass?
Is there anyway to dry up the water that’s trapped under the glass?

Best answer:

Answer by tercir2006
Yes. Turn your oven to about 250° and let the water bake out. Water boils at 212°, so that will dry it out.

there is no way to open it and it remain accurate i am sorry to tell you I to have made that really bad mistake and the only thing you can do is place it in an extremely hot place and hope for the best ! there is a spring type of coil inside of it and if you open it up Trust ME you will never get it back together and even if you can it will never be accurate! sorry

She left it in there for 12 hours, but I still think the turkey has a funny taste. She has been cooking for around 40 years.

Question by LMAO: How to safely cook a stuffed 12 pound turkey without a meat thermometer?
Please help! Its my first time roasting a turkey. Should I stuff it or not? Is it any good with out stuffing? What should I stuff it with?

Best answer:

Answer by James
Four hours and six minutes at 325 degrees F.

Yes, stuff it. You can find recipes all over the web. Here’s one:

Dressing. The easiest dressing is a commercial mix: I use Pepperidge Farm mixes, and I mix them: 2 packages of one of the bread mixes and 1 of the cornbread. For each 3 packages of mix, chop one medium onion, about half of one bunch of celery (needs to have leaves, as many as possible; you want the chopped leaves in there as well as the celery), and at least half a bunch (depends on the size bunch) of parsley. Add “Italian” herb mix plus additional sage. This brand calls for adding butter and water—and I do use butter, but margarine is OK if you must.
Do not add eggs. Zero eggs. Thus zero chance of salmonella from the stuffing (from the turkey…well, that’s what well done is for.) The strong herb flavoring of the stuffing helps flavor the turkey, but it does get milder with cooking. Inevitably people want more stuffing…so make enough to have an out-of-turkey pan to bake (it goes in the oven when you pull the turkey out.)
